Do we need all of the noise? Bob Marrow remembers quieter times before games.

Nowhere it this more true than in Yankee Stadium where I remember the silence of pre-game practice—only the sound of the ball hitting a glove or a bat hitting the ball broke the sacred quiet. During the game the subdued murmur of the crowd was broken only by cheers for a good play or a timely hit. Now, ears are incessantly assaulted by blaring loudspeakers. Are they afraid that in quiet peacefulness we might think?
